In the last few days of 2001 we were able to make a nice patch of ice in our back yard. The grand opening was on January 1. Within hours kids were arriving from everywhere, and I installed flood lighting and loudspeakers (basic tools for crowd control). While cold, very cold, the year 2002 started on a cheerful note. |

In February it was still cold, but we decided to go to Skorgedalen for a week. It was the first time the whole family has been up there in winter. The first couple of days were fair, clear, and cold. This sunny day saw an afternoon high of 18 degrees Celsius (that's 0 Fahrenheit). Notice how neither the sun nor the heat from inside melts the snow clinging to the walls. |

The last three or four days we were confined to our quarters by a blizzard, and we consumed about half our stock of firewood. Inside the cabin it was nice and cosy, and just the right atmosphere to make one of our favourite dishes namely " Bucket-of-Bah " (a.k.a. Fårikål). Bucket-of-Bah, along with beer and aquavite, is the entree of the Menu Skorgedalen. This menus appetizer is Blini Romsdal served with trout roe and Smetana, the dessert is Crème Brûlée (made from condensed milk if need be) Its tough being a redneck. |

At Easter time we went to Copenhagen for the sixteenth year on a row. This year we rented an apartment on the beach at Karlslunde. |

Returning from Denmark we spent a night at home before driving up to Skorgedalen and the traditional second half of our Easter holiday. The kids insisted on sleeping at least one night in a snow cave. The silence and comfort offered by the snow is a unique experience. Say hello to Robin. Still a bit sleepy, are we? |
